FORT FRANCES, Ont. – The Fort Frances Lakers got goals from five different skaters to help them defeat the English River Miners 5-1 in Superior International Junior Hockey League play Friday at Ice for Kids Arena.
Julian Uhryniuk started the home side off on a positive note as ne notched his 10th of the season 37 seconds into the contest.
Later in the first frame, Fort Frances made it 2-0 at 6:19 with Jack Bernie connecting on the power play for his 13th of the campaign.
The Lakers kept coming in the middle session and tacked on two more before the period was five minutes old as Jaedin Ness and Adam Withers scored in rapid succession.
English River got one back at 15:07 as Nic Herringer snapped one in from a sharp angle on the left side to pull the visitors to within three entering the third.
The score stayed that way until late in the contest as James Gushulak scored from long range into an empty net to round out the night’s scoring.
Ismael Ralsten picked up the win in net for the Lakers while Michael Lenko suffered the loss.
